BreakFest

This project is a food festival about breakfast food. The festival branding was inspired by midcentury modern design and 1950s diners. The logo and poster were specifically inspired by the shapes of diner signs and type from the period.

The design process for BreakFest was like most other projects. It began with a mood board and thumbnail sketches. While the sketches began on pen and paper, they transitioned to digital to start type experimentations to find the right fit for the project. The final typeface chosen was Whirlie Birdie by Skyhaven Fonts, as well as a script called Palm Canyon Drive by Hoodzpah.

Complementary colors were chosen to create a bold logo. Light blue was chosen to create a connection to vintage diners and the orange-yellow was chosen for the imagery of the logo, as well as to contrast the blue.

The intent for this poster was to create something that drew reference from a Drive-In sign with their unique, organic shapes, as well as some subtly surrealist yet minimalistic imagery. The badges were designed with the intent to have stickers collected from different food trucks at the event. Guests who fill their badges will win a prize.

social media

A social media presence was mocked up to show how the brand identity could be applied across different marketing areas. The platform chosen was Instagram on the account @breakfestfoodfest.
